Academic Policies

Blended Curriculum for Global Excellence

HPS integrates both British and Nigerian curricula, preparing students for local and international examinations, including IGCSE, WAEC (SSSCE), NECO (BECE & SSSCE), Checkpoint, and IPC.

Mandatory Class Attendance

Students are expected to attend all lessons regularly. Absenteeism without a valid reason is not permitted.

Timely Assignment Submission

Assignments must be completed and submitted on time. Parents should supervise homework to ensure academic progress.

Performance Tracking and Reporting

Report cards are issued twice per term, and parents must sign and return continuous assessment booklets every Monday.

Merit-Based Promotions

Promotion is strictly based on merit, and double promotions are granted only at the school's discretion.

Security & Student Pick-Up Policies

Strict Authorization for Student Pick-Up

Only authorized persons will be allowed to pick up students. The school will not release a child to any unauthorized person without prior written permission.

Pre-Approved Pick-Up List

Parents must provide a list of authorized persons who can pick up their child to ensure security and proper handover.

Restricted Pick-Up List

Parents may also submit a list of individuals who are not permitted to pick up their child for added security.

Written Confirmation for Pick-Up Changes

Changes to the pick-up list must be made in writing and will not be accepted via telephone to prevent unauthorized modifications.

Daily Security Register & Sign-Out Requirement

A daily security register is maintained in the reception hall, and parents must sign out their child upon pick-up to ensure accountability.

Medical Policies

Student Health Information

Parents must inform the school of any allergies, chronic illnesses, or special medical conditions their child has to ensure proper care and preparedness.

Emergency First Aid & Parental Notification

In case of an emergency, the school will administer first aid and contact parents immediately for further medical decisions.

Medication Administration Guidelines

If a student requires medication during school hours, parents must provide a doctor's note along with written consent for proper administration.

Strict Medication Policy

The school will not administer any unauthorized medication to students to ensure safety and compliance with medical guidelines.

Dress Code & Personal Appearance

Standard Uniform Guidelines

Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays: Students must wear the standard school uniform with white crested socks and black Cortina sandals.

Wednesdays: Sportswear is required, paired with white sneakers and white crested socks.

Fridays: Primary students may dress down in the school's designated weekly colour code.

Hair & Grooming Standards

Hair extensions and attachments are not allowed. Girls should have neatly woven hair or a short haircut, while boys must maintain a tidy look.

Permitted Accessories

Only small earrings and wristwatches are allowed. No other jewellery is permitted to maintain uniformity and simplicity.

Nail & Personal Care Restrictions

Nail polish is strictly prohibited to uphold cleanliness and discipline in personal appearance.

Cold Weather Attire

Only the approved school cardigan may be worn during cold weather to maintain uniformity.

Other School Policies

Attendance & School Hours

  • School hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM (depending on the section).
  • Parents should drop off lunch boxes and messages with security to avoid classroom distractions.
  • Late pick-ups attract a fine of ₦2,000 per hour, payable before the child is released.

Behaviour & Discipline Policies

  • HPS maintains high moral and disciplinary standards. Bullying, harassment, or any form of misconduct is strictly prohibited.
  • Students are expected to demonstrate respect, integrity, and responsibility at all times.
  • A structured reward and consequence system is in place to encourage positive behaviour.

Fees & Refund Policies

  • Fees must be paid before resumption, as entry into the school is based on the presentation of a payment voucher.
  • All fees are non-refundable, and fractional payments are not allowed.
  • Discounts apply when:
    • A parent has three or more children enrolled.
    • Full sessional payments are made in advance.

Parental Involvement Policies

  • HPS values strong partnerships with parents and encourages active participation in school activities.
  • Parents are expected to attend regular meetings, engagement sessions, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Parents should check their child's school bag daily for notices and important updates.

Extracurricular & Leadership Programmes

  • Students are encouraged to participate in sports, arts, leadership training, and cultural activities.
  • Programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Global Youth Leadership, and African Leadership Academy Scheme help develop well-rounded individuals.

Birthday Celebrations

  • Birthday parties are only allowed during break periods to minimize distractions.
  • Cooked food is not permitted; only snacks and drinks are allowed.
  • The school photographer must be used, as external photographers are not permitted for security reasons.
